Yolanda “Yogie” Sherice Roberts was born on January 14, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late William Harold Thompson and the late Charlotte Marie Price.
Yogie was known for her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and love of making others smile. She possessed a warm and joyful personality that brought happiness to everyone around her. She will forever be remembered as funny, loving, and full of life by all who knew her.
At an early age, Yogie moved to Lanett, Alabama, where she attended Lanett High School. She later met and married Terry Gibson, and from this union three children were born. Following their divorce and relocation, out of love a fourth child, Tralanda Reed, was born. Yogie then met and married Timothy Bailey, Sr., after relocating to Birmingham, Alabama, and from this union one son was born.
After spending several years in Birmingham, Yogie realized how much she missed her hometown of Lanett, Alabama. She returned home, and while settling back into the community she loved, she met Philip Roberts and married for the final time. Throughout her life, Yogie worked as a home health nurse and in manufacturing, always caring for others while supporting her family.
On January 20, 2026, God called Yogie home while she was doing what she loved most — making others laugh.
She leaves to cherish her memory her only sister, Serena M. Thompson of Dallas, Texas; her children, Terrance J. Gibson of Auburn, Alabama, Shalissiya S. Deale of Augusta, Georgia, Quanisha L. Gibson of Lanett, Alabama, Tralanda L. Reed of Birmingham, Alabama, and Timothy Bailey, Jr. of Los Angeles, California. She also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren: Daniel D. Gibson, Darriyon D. Gibson, and Darielle Gibson of Auburn, Alabama; Senise S. Deale, Sarai S. Gibson, and Saniyah M. Deale of Augusta, Georgia; and Syncere B. Smith and Serenity A. Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; Quiana Frazier and Destinee Williams of Lanett, Alabama. In addition, Yogie leaves to cherish her memory three cherished nieces: Nothrice A. Thompson, Zipporah R. Cheeks, and Chardonnay Cheeks.
Her infectious laughter and joyful spirit will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
