Willie Mae Berry

 Willie Mae Berry was, a lifelong native of Ponchatoula, was born  on December 2, 1944 to the late Willie Berry of Ponchatoula, La and Alice Nunnery of Magnolia, Mississippi.

 She departed this life on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 9:30 A.M. surrounded by her devoted daughter, Verlisa Berry and her grandson, Bryant Berry. 

 Willie Mae received her education from Greenville Park of Hammond, Louisiana. She worked at Sanderson’s Farm in Hammond, Louisiana for over 30 years. She often reflected on her upbring and high school days. 

 She accepted the Lord as her Personal Savior and was baptized by the late Rev. Howard Bolden at St. Matthew A.M.E. in Ponchatoula. She later joined New Zion Baptist Church. She loved her family. She bore one daugther, Verlisa Berry. She also had a hand in rearing many. She visited the sick at there home or in the hospital. She was alway willing to help anyone. 

 She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter/caregiver, Verlisa Berry; her two granddaughter, Acharmbi Fields (Andrew, Sr.) and Johnna Berry; two grandsons, Saja Berry and Bryant Berry; two great-grandsons, Meliek McGhee and Andrew Fields, Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. 

 Willie Mae was proceeded in death by her father, Willie Berry; her mother, Alice Nunnery; seven sisters, Edna Guidry, Annie Mae Smith, Priscilla Cloy, Ethel Henderson, Mary Berry, Ernestine Hayes and Lula Nunnery; two brothers, Rufus Hayes and Willie Nunnery. 

He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; their will be 

no more mourning or sadness or pain. The of the past has gone.
