Sherman W Pierson

October 6, 1958 — October 9, 2025

Sherman Wayne Pierson, a life-long resident of Baton Rouge, departed this life peacefully on Thursday October 9, 2025, three days after his 67th birthday.

Sherman was a graduate of Baker High School and was honorably discharge from the United States Army. During his civilian life, he worked as a training chef before earning his certification as a welder, applying his skills across various areas of the trade. He also faithfully served as an usher at Open Door Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

Known for his quick wit and vibrant personality, Sherman never met a stranger. He was the comic relief, the steadfast supporter, and the life of every gathering he attended. His passions ran deep – for GOD, his family, the New England Patriots, and Southern University Football.

He was the devoted husband the late Rebecca Lee Pierson, the loving father to three children-daughter, Kimberly McCoy (James), sons Christopher McCoy (Faith) and Elder Jamar Pierson. He embraced 3 bonus daughters, Chernika Ordone (Taisen), Kisha James, and Karla Jones (Quinless). His love and legacy will live on through his four grandchildren, Kennedy, Kiian, Imani and Zavion.

Sherman is survived by one sister Rose Kaufman-Williams (John) and two brothers, Joseph Pierson and Elizah Pierson, Sr. (Sandra), as well as host of relatives and friends.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Jack Pierson and Joseph Pierson, Sr., sister, Gloria Pierson Haney, brother, Matthew Pierson, wife, Rebecca Lee Pierson.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. ~Revelation 14:13 KJV~
