REMEMBERING SALLIE MAE “LIL BAE” TERRELL ROBINS

Sallie Mae Terrell Robins, affectionately known by her family as “Lil Bae,” and “ MaMa” was born on June 17, 1930, to Aaron Terrell and Alcinda Drake Terrell. She was one of twelve children born to this union and was the baby of the bunch. She departed this earthly life on June 30, 2026 at the age of 96 years old. Sallie was a woman of strong faith, who loved and served God. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She possessed many strong attributes, but her greatest was the ability to love. She was a very caring and giving person and she taught us by example how to “LOVE” unconditionally.

Sallie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Peter United Methodist Church, Clinton, LA, under the leadership of the late Reverend Lewis. She was a faithful member of Jordan United Methodist Church, pastored by the late Reverend Clarence Hillard, where she served as a Communion Stewart and Communion Secretary. She continued to serve faithfully at Jordan until her late age, under the current leadership of Pastor Sonja Lar. Sallie was a graduate of the 1950 class of East Feliciana Industrial Training School, Clinton, LA. She proudly attended Southern University of Baton Rouge for several years before she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Robins. Sallie and Ralph were married in March 1953, and from this union, eight children were born, four boys and four girls.

She was employed by Woman’s Hospital for 27 years in Central Supply as a Sterile Processor before retiring. Sallie, “Lil Bae”, was an excellent cook. Whenever you visit her home, you could look forward to enjoying a home cooked meal. At the top of the morning, a treat was her homemade biscuits with fresh preserves or a delicious evening meal of red beans and rice, cornbread, and all the fixings. Everyone loved her cakes and pies, especially around holiday time! Her hands were truly blessed as she had many other talents such as crocheting and sewing.

Sallie was known for her fashion sense and eye for style. She loved to wear beautiful hats with her matching shoes and purses. When dressed to the nines, you could always count on seeing a big smile on her face to match her elegant style. She would say, “The shoes are nothing without the purse to go with them”.

Her love for her family and others will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories, seven children: Sons, Michael G. Robins, Terrell D. Robins, Ralph T. Robins (Helen); and Daughters, Brenda J. Robins, Patricia C. Robins, Carla D. Robins Cage, and Catherine M. Robins, all of Baton Rouge, LA; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family, relatives, and friends who adored her.

In addition to her parents, Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Robins, son, Bruce Harris Robins; son-in-law, Abraham Cage; daughter-in-law, Carla D. Lenoir Robins; grandson, Leslie (Manny) Robins; granddaughters, Carla (Sue-Sue) London, and Theodorus (Dee) Wisham Carter; Brothers, Lawrence M. Terrell, Henry Terrell, Willie (Buddy) Terrell, Charlie A. Terrell, and Aaron Terrell, Jr.; Sisters, Margaret Terrell Thomas, Ernestine Terrell Turner, Alcinda Terrell Bell, Emily Terrell Marshall, Grace Terrell Jones, and Mary (Big Bae) Terrell Mabry.
