Mr. Joseph “Boo” Burgess, III was born January 13, 1972 to the late Joseph Burgess, Jr. and Kittoria Burgess in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Joseph received his formal education from Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He accepted Christ as his Personal Savior at an early age and was united with Greater Harvest Missionary Bapstist Church. He was baptized later in life at First Alpine Baptist Church.
He worked as a General Contractor, car salesman, owner of a car lot, co-founder of Tombstone Records (Est. 1991), Capricorn Designs Owner (ESt. 2001). He was a jack of all trades. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending playing dominos, spending time with family and friends, PS5, and avid lover and fan of the New Orleans Saints Football. Joseph met and married the love of his life Melissa Maxwelll they lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and later relocated to Baton Rouge in 2005.
“Boo’s” precious memories will remain in the heart of those whom he loved: his devoted wife, Melissa Maxwell; children, Davante and Orvell Maxwell, Joseph Burgess, IV, Traychel Burgess, Jolasha Burgess, Jolice Burgess, Mercedez Mawell and Jolissa Burgess; grandchildren, Davante K. Maxwell, Jr., Dash Maxwell, Kayden Samuel, Da’Khaza Maxwell, Daxyree Maxwell, Phoenyx Maxwell, Onyx Maxwell, Daelani Walton, and Titus Walton; Godchildren, George Murphy, Jr. and Princeton Howard; father-in-law, Beverly King, Jr. ; brother, Kevin Gray; uncles, Roy (Mary) Washington, Melvin and Joseph Johnson, Jr.; one aunt, Glenda Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Burgess, Jr. and Ketoria Burgess-Neal; two children, Ciara Johnson and Kiyle Maxwell; grandparents, Grace Thigpen Burgess and Joseph Burgess, Sr.; Joseph Johnson Sr. and Rebecca Bynum; uncles, Michael, Bruce, Melcor and Jeffrey Johnson, John Washington and Sam Bynum, Charlie Burgess; aunts, Diane L. Holmes and Ethel Wicker.
