Hilda Ann Bell, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on April 26, 1965, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Hilda was the loving daughter of the late Lillie B. Dorsey and Sam Slater. She received her formal education at Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hilda was a woman of strong character, known for her incredible work ethic and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and neighbors.
At the age of seven, Hilda accepted Christ as her Savior at Star Hill Baptist Church in St. Francisville, Louisiana. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found great joy in visiting various churches. Hilda had a vibrant spirit and a passion for life. She loved walking, fishing, dancing, singing, playing cards, and she always enjoyed a trip to the casino. Above all, she treasured time spent with her loved ones and was a devoted fan of her favorite team, the New Orleans Saints.
Hilda leaves behind a beautiful legacy to be cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted siblings, her sister Gloria Bell of Baton Rouge, LA and brother Henry Bell Dorsey of Baton Rouge, LA. She will be dearly missed by her beloved nephew Terrance Snowden Sr. (LaQuona) of Baton Rouge, LA and her nieces Niki Mosby (Tequil) of Baton Rouge, LA and Shameka Gibson (Joshua) of Denham Springs, LA. Her memory will also live on through her great-nephews Terrance Snowden Jr. and Jeremiah Gibson, her great-nieces Morgan Mosby and Paris Parker, and her Godsisters; Katina Foster of Baker, LA and Janie Anderson of Baton Rouge, LA. She also leaves behind a host of extended relatives and special friends.
Hilda was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lillie B. Dorsey and Sam Slater; her grandmothers, Mary Harris Dorsey and Mary Allen Slater; her grandfather, Jonas Dorsey Sr.; her great-niece, Teonna Snowden; six aunts and four uncles.
