Douglas Williams, Senior was born December 6, 1938, to the union of the late Henry and Annie Williams in Fort Adams, Mississippi. He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at an early age. His faith led him to Elm Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. R. Willliams where he was a faithful and dutiful member.
Douglas received his high school diploma from Johnson High School. He was a star quarterback with extraordinary talent and led the team to many victories. He advocated his success to his sons, who became talented athletes. He motivated them to strive for excellence. He was active in the community and affiliated with many social and civic groups, namely Les Couples Noir (The Black Couples), SU Quarterback Club and Baton Rouge Lions Club. Douglas enlisted in the Armed Services and served four years of active duty. SFC Douglas Willliams, Senior retired from the United States Army Reserve May 1987.
Douglas married Louise Webb on April 28, 1963, and to this lovely union three children were born, Douglas II, Laticia, and Desmond. Years after his wife, Louise transitioned, he found compassion, kindness and strength in Gloria Morgan and they married on September 14, 2014.
Douglas departed this life on August 15, 2024, at Sterling Place surrounded by his Family. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Morgan Williams, his daughter, Laticia Williams Barthe’, sons, Desmond C. Williams (Christi) and Kendrick Plain and his pride and joy grandsons, Joshua and Desmond, Jr and granddaughters, Zuri, Zhoie, and Zhani. His bonus daughters, Shunquita Morgan, Melissa Morgan and Lashanda Echols (Shawn) and bonus grandchildren, Keenan Echols, Christian Echols, Mya Morgan, and Demondre Morgan. He also leaves God daughters, Kristy Maxie, and Nicole Freeman, three sisters-in- law, Cinderella Clark, Gail P. Tolliver (Charles) Janice W. Holloway and brothers-in law Cardell Webb (Nana), Melvin C. Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Annie Williams, his first wife, Louise Webb Williams one son, Douglas Williams, II, two brothers, Walter Williams (Etta) and Henry Williams, five sisters, Lillian Russell (Ralph), Marion Morgan (Adolph), Nzingha Shabaka, Carrie Johnson (Vary) and Inez Allen (Melvin), mother and father in law, Leon and Ollie Mae Webb and brothers-in-law, Leon Webb, Jr and Roger M. Clark.
