Ms. Doris Strickland Autry was born February 27, 1952, in Troup County, Georgia. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 07, 2026 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, Georgia.
Doris gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In later years, she joined O.H. Ministries, Lanett, Alabama. Doris was a dedicated, faithful servant in both churches as well as passionate about cooking, serving others and spending time with her family, church members and friends.
She was a 1970 graduate of Harrison High School. She attended Texas Technical State College.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strickland Jr.; sisters, Linda White, Deborah Huguley and Virginia Davidson; brothers, William C. Strickland and Jerry Talley; brother-in-law, Charles Foreman; sister-in-law, Althea Strickland.
She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Fontaine Strickland and Maurice (Lisa) Strickland); loved by all her grandchildren; sibling, Willie (Marie) Talley of LaGrange, Georgia, Ralph Davidson, New York, Henry (Bernice) Strickland, McDonough, Georgia, Christopher Strickland of San Antonio, Texas, Samuel Strickland of Villa Rica, Georgia, Brenda Moss, Ewa Villages, Hawaii , Sheila (Steve) Dudley and Jackie Foreman of West Point, Georgia, Jackie (Terry) Hood, Fayetteville, Georgia, Donna Talley Williams, Cathy Gates, Judy (Eugene) Harris of LaGrange, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Doris Harris, Corona, California, Mattie Brown, Chicago, Illinois, Willie Strickland and Joe Gilliam of West Point, Georgia; sister-in-law, Jackie Strickland of Pearland, Texas; a special friend, Theresa (Bobby) Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. Doris Strickland Autry will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m ET in the sanctuary of the O.H. Ministries, 4128 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lanett, AL with Dr. Elnora Copeland, PIT/Officiating and Bishop Bertha Hodge, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Austin Street, West Point, GA.
The family will receive visitors at 504 North 8th Avenue, Lanett, AL 36863
