Clifton Robert Hornsby

November 9, 1947 — June 10, 2024

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.  ~Philippians 1:21 & 23- 

 

Clifton “Robert” Hornsby departed this earthly life peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 at the age of 76 in the loving presence of family and friends at The Woodleigh of Baton Rouge. He was born on November 9, 1947 to the late Kenneth and Catherine Hornsby in Magnolia, Ms. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Rose Hill Baptist Church. He attended Pike County School until he moved to Kentwood, La, there he attended Dillion High School until graduation. In March 1968 he joined the Army and was honorably discharged. After that, he moved to Baton Rouge, La where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Bailey Hornsby. They were united for 50 years. Clifton worked at Baton Rouge Waterwork until retirement. After retirement he enjoyed his life doing mechanic work, fishing, collecting clocks and watches, and spending time with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Fredrick Bailey; a bonus daughter, Tymonique Bailey; a bonus grandson, Mark, and a bonus granddaughter, Paisley Parker, a mother-n-law, Thelma Bailey; 2 brother-n-laws, James Bailey and Wallace Brumfield and 1 sister-n-law, Shirley D. Cook Fuller - Chicago, Ill.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

 Robert was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hornsby Sr.; mother, Catherine Hornsby; his beloved wife, Linda Bailey-Hornsby; three sisters, Cula Mae Island, Vernestine Brumfield, and Betty Lenoir; and three brothers, Earnest “Bob” Hornsby, Kenneth Hornsby Jr., and Jimmy Hornsby.
