Obituary

Christopher “Big Chris” O’Bryant Thomas was born on May 28, 1978, and peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on August 23, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Chris was a man with an extraordinary heart, a peaceful spirit, and an unwavering love for family. He was employed at Red Stick Social, but beyond his work, his greatest joy was found in the people he loved. For sixteen beautiful years, he shared life and marriage with his beloved wife, Julia. Their union was filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. To know “Big Chris” was to know a man whose presence brought warmth, whose heart made room for others, and whose love for his family was evident in all he did.

Chris leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Julia Hill Thomas of Baton Rouge; his uncle and “Pops,” Anselm Nwokorie of Monroe; his mother-in-law, Janice Hill of Baton Rouge; his brothers, Carlton (DeJuan) Thomas of Alexandria, Chad Thomas of Monroe, and LaMarcus Thomas of Baton Rouge; his sisters, Joy Nwokorie of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Latoya Hill, Denise Hill, Bobbie Walters, and Patrice Winfield, all of Baton Rouge; along with his beloved nephews and nieces, special friend Sherri Norman, Godbrother JaMarcus Kaufmann, three Godchildren, Jamirea Riley of Lake Charle, Germany West and Carter Lee of Baton Rouge and a host of relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Thomas; aunt, Jan Nwokorie; brother, Casey Thomas, Sr.; and close friend, Kenneth Forbes.Though his earthly journey has ended, the love Chris gave so freely remains. His big heart, warm spirit, and devotion to those he loved will continue to live in every story shared, every memory treasured, and every life he touched.

“Big Chris” was deeply loved, and his presence will never be forgotten.
