Beverly King Jr.

July 4, 1944 — December 1, 2025

Beverly King, Jr., 81, a devoted resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He transitioned peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and closest friends.

Born on July 4, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Beverly King, Sr. and Matilda King, Beverly was affectionately known to many as “PawPaw.” His warm spirit, unwavering love, and gentle strength touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Known for his quick wit and vibrant personality, Beverly never met a stranger. He was the comic relief, the steadfast supporter, and the life of every gathering he attended. His passions ran deep – for GOD, his family, the New Orleans Saints.

Beverly was educated in the New Orleans Public School System and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he received an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he dedicated his civilian life to a long and fulfilling career as a Truck Driver, working diligently and providing for his family with humility and grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly, Sr. and Matilda King; his beloved wife, Cora King; his fiancée, Joycelyn Paul; two sons, Kevin Maxwell and Darren King; one son-in-love, Joseph Burgess III; a grandchild, Kiyle Maxwell; his brother, Johnny King; and his sisters, Letha Daniels, Barbara Maxwell, Gloria Boseman, and Rosalie Thedford.

Beverly leaves to cherish his memory:three children: Brandon Warren, Melissa Maxwell Burgess, and Chris Maxwell; ourteen grandchildren: Davante Maxwell, Orvel Maxwell, Joseph Burgess IV, Mercedez Maxwell, Jolissa Burgess, Brandon Warren, Jr., Shaniya Warren, Leyla Warren, Maya Warren, LilKevin Maxwell, Khyheem Maxwell, LilKirs Maxwell, Keyva Maxwell, and Jay Hoskins; eight great-grandchildren: Davante Maxwell, Jr., Dash Maxwell, Da’Zyre Maxwell, Da’Khaza Maxwell, Kayden Samuel, Phoenix Maxwell, Onyx Maxwell, and Kny’Jae Maxwell; brothers Leonard, Leon and Lawrence; his sisters, Adeline Moore, Idella Ramsey, Patricia King and Lucretia Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, each of whom he loved deeply and equally.

Beverly’s life was one of strength, resilience, and generosity. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family will forever be treasured. Though he will be profoundly missed, his legacy will continue to shine brightly through the many lives he touched.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. ~Revelation 14:13 KJV~
