Obituary

“I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tent of the wicked”

~Psalms 84:10~

When I can read my titles clear to mansions in the sky, I bid farewell to every fear and wipe my weeping eyes. Audrey Lee Self was born on January 3, 1939 to Hollis Ard and Leila Ard Strickland. She departed this earthly life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at North Oaks Medical Center.

She attended school in the St. Helena School System. She met and married Frank Self. They lived a good and prosperous life together. This union brought together six children. After some time, they moved to Ponchatoula, Louisiana to continue their life together. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Good Hope B.C. in Ponchatoula, LA and the later moved her membership to the Full Faith Christian Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Carl Rattler and Pastor Donnell Henderson where she served faithfully as an usher for 35 plus years. She attended and later joined First True Love World Outreach Ministries under the leadership of the late Pastor Carl Coleman and current leadership, Pastor Jeffery White.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Brenda Belvin Caleb and Donnis Self Knight of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; two sons, Ricky B. Self and Frank Marshal Self (Diane); one sister, Mittie R. Hall of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Self; one brother-in-law, Pastor Leon Self, Sr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Self; her parents; two sons, Darryl and Kenny Self; two grandsons, Jon’Quayle Mosley and La’Vurisa Self; one sister, Carrie Mae Wilson and one brother, Hollis Ard, Jr.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. ~Revelation 14:13 KJV~
