Angelia McGilvery Rankins

Angelia D. McGilvery Rankins “Tiny” was born on March 1, 1968. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Catherine McGilvery. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She was a proud graduate of Perry Central High School Class of 1987. She joined Bolton Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. Her mom served as the Pianist and she would sing. She was self employed for many years as a cosmetologist . Until her health began to decline, she was employed at South Mississippi Correctional Institution.

Angelia later joined Mt. Olive M. Baptist Church where she remained faithful in her church duties until her health failed. She accepted Christ at an early age and would sing of the goodness of God any time. She was a member of several singing groups and choirs including: Joy, Sisters in Christ, and Perry Count Mass Choir. Singing was her passion.

Loving people was important to her. She was a “People Person” and her life overflowed with love and kindness towards her family and community.

On August 8, 2025, Angelia succumbed to God’s call at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. She fought a good fight, she had finished her course. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Catherine McGilvery; mother-in-law, Armetter Rankins; father-in-law, Percy Rankins, Sr.; brother-in-law, Percy Rankins, Jr.; daughter-in-love, Audrianna McNair McGilvery; two step-daughters, Audrianne and Ekiwa Rankins, as well as her twins Kaymia and Kamol.

Angelia leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, Rev. Ronnie E. Rankins; eight children, Catlin (Jasmine) McxGilvery of Deridder, LA, Errington (Destiny) Stenson of Gulfport, MS, Cameron (Sa’Myria) Rankins of Beaumont, MS, and Ronnie (Brittney) Rankins, Jr. of Beaumont, MS, Einnor (Tommy) Rankins of Dallas, TX, Eleayha Anderson of Philadelphia, MS, Raphael Grant of Meridian, MS and Rashad Shoemaker of Hickory, MS; twenty grandchildren; one aunt, Dorothy J. McGilvery; five sisters-in-law, Brenda Rankins, Glenda (Bobby) Perryman, Gwendolyn (James Ray) Bourrage, Carolyn (Robert) Griffin and Monica Rankins. She leaves a host of nieces, nepheews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
